A Brief Spotlight on Cinna: The Man who set the Girl on Fire
For Cinna, fashion isn’t simply a career. It’s a calling. “I always channel my emotions into my work,” he says.
When it was announced that he would be styling the tributes of District 12 in the 74th Hunger Games, many Capitol observers were confused; just who was this mysterious stylist taking over District 12 duties?
Yet for Cinna it was a chance to prove himself, and this unique opportunity has paid off in spades. After the unprecedented dual victory of Katniss and Peeta, he has become the Capitol’s most sought after designer, his iconic “girl on fire” dress quickly making him a household name. In fact, many of the Capitol’s fashion elite wouldn’t be caught dead wearing anyone else these days.
And what surprising inspiration does Cinna credit for that fiery creation? The coal mines of Katniss’s District 12: “What do we do with coal?” he asks. “We burn it.”
As the entire Capitol, and the more fashionable District citizenry, awaits his next move with bated breath, the fashion phenom is playing things close to his fabulously dressed chest. When asked what’s in store for the newly-minted style guru, Cinna’s been known to simply shrug and smile coyly – silently reassuring us that whatever it is will leave us awestruck. Until then, keep twirling…

The official instagram page of Capitol Couture recently posted this teaser!
“Who’s taking Couture to the next level? See more #Cinna, this Wednesday. #CinnaStyle = #OhSoCapitol | www.capitolcouture.pn”

Suzanne Collins, along with Illustrator James Proimos, recently went to BEA (Book Expo America) to promote her new children’s book Year of The Jungle. Here are some excerpts of what occured at BEA :
Aside from promoting her latest book, in this article from USA today, Suzanne plans to write a new teen series, but further information regarding this has yet to be revealed.
First, she says, she’s consulting on the scripts for the third and fourth film adaptations of her dystopian series that has more than 50 million copies in print. (Catching Fire, the second movie, again starring Jennifer Lawrence, will be released Nov. 22. And nearly four years after the book’s publication, the paperback of Catching Fire finally hits stores Tuesday. Mockingjay, the series finale, will be split into two films, out in 2014 and 2015). On Sept. 10, Collins releases an autobiographical picture book, Year of the Jungle, illustrated by James Proimos, about her memories of 1968, when she was 6, and her father had “to go to something called a war…in a place called Vietnam.” At a discussion Thursday night on writing about war for young readers, sponsored by her publisher, Scholastic, Collins said if kids “have no idea what propaganda is, how will you ever know when it’s being used against you?”

Capitol Couture is Panem’s official fashion website. Before the release of the Hunger Games last year it provided the audience a glimpse of what the Capitol’s fashion style is about. Earlier this year, it launched the Special Edition: Capitol Portraits and now it relaunches with their latest Spring Issue: Chroma Nouveau, featuring an interview with Effie Trinket discussing her normal daily routine and also with Capitol Stylist Trish Summerville who says that for Effie’s look, “I chose this design [for Effie] to appear vibrant, cheery and over-the-top in true Capitol fashion, for President Snow and all the viewers”. (Also, note that the featured designers, including Trish Summerville are the actual costume designers for the film!)
Aside from the stunning new layout for the website, Chroma Nouveau also features the Victory Tour series : 12 Districts, 12 Days, 12 Looks, this showcases the latest trends inspired by the districts of Panem. The current ones included are of District 8, 9, 10 and 11.
