CASTING RUMOR: Philip Seymour Hoffman has been offered the role of Plutarch Heavensbee
Rumor has it, Lionsgate offered the role of Plutarch Heavensbee to Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Plutarch Heavensbee is the Head Gamemaker of the 75th Hunger Games and those who have read the book know that Plutarch has a greater role than being just a Head Gamemaker.
Hoffman is known for being in different critically-acclaimed films like Moneyball, Synecdoche,New York, Doubt, The Savages and more. He won multiple awards including an Academy Award for his portrayal of Truman Capote. He is also an accomplished stage actor and director.
Cinemablend weighs in if he would accept the role:

That is, if he even accepts it. Hoffman doesn’t exactly have a strong track record making big-budget studio movies— Mission: Impossible 3 being a great exception— and he just wrapped his stint as Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman on Broadway, meaning he might want a bit longer of a break after playing one of the most challenging roles in contemporary theater. But we’d also love to see him show up in the Hunger Games universe, so maybe a part in a big studio movie is exactly the kind of change of pace he needs.

UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Hoffman has received an official offer to play Plutarch in Catching Fire!
