It’s official! Jena Malone will be joining the cast of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, as Johanna Mason.
It has been already reported that Jena Malone has been offered the role of Johanna Mason and now, Lionsgate just announced that she has been cast as Johanna Mason for Catching Fire!
Jena Malone started acting when she was just 12 years old which is why she has now a long list of films and TV shows under her belt. To name a few (aside from Sucker Punch): Pride and Prejudice, Stepmom, Into the Wild, Cold Mountain, Donnie Darko and Saved!. Consequently, she has been nominated in several acting awards and even won in some of them.

Santa Monica, CA, July 23, 2012- Lionsgate® and the filmmakers of THE HUNGER GAMES:CATCHING FIRE are pleased to announce that Jena Malone has been cast in the role of Johanna Mason in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire. Johanna Mason is a female victor from a past Games still in her early twenties, and is one of the youngest, but also one of the most psychologically scarred Quarter Quell participants.
Malone recently starred opposite Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton in the History Channel’s Emmy® nominated mini-series Hatfields & McCoys. The mini-series broke cable records and is the new most-watched entertainment telecast of all time on cable. Her additional credits include Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch, Oren Moverman’s The Messenger, and Sean Penn’s Into the Wild. She will soon begin production on Lonely Hunter.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Jena Malone is up for the role of Johanna Mason for Catching Fire.
Actress Jena Malone (Sucker Punch) is in the running for the pivotal role of strong-willed tribute Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, EW has learned exclusively.

In other news, EW also reported that Mia Wasikowska is not up for the role of Johanna Mason.
EW also confirmed that, despite an earlier report, Mia Wasikowska has not been approached for the role of Johanna Mason, nor would be available to shoot the film.
