CASTING RUMOR: Jena Malone offered the role of Johanna in Catching Fire

It has been reported that Jena Malone is up for the role of Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. And now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, she has been offered the role:

Malone has the offer and is in early negotiations for the part, according to sources. The move nixes premature reports that pegged newbie actress-model Zoe Aggeliki as the front-runner to play the ax-wielding former Hunger Games winner from District 7, who aligns with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) in their return to the arena for an all-star death match.

Until we have an official announcement from Lionsgate, we have to treat this as a rumor.

Hunter Parrish talks about being considered for Finnick & not getting the role of Peeta

In an interview with Daily Beast for his show Weeds, Hunter Parrish also talked about not getting the role of Peeta for The Hunger Games and being in talks with the producers of Catching Fire for the role of Finnick

Then, of course, there’sThe Hunger Games. He camethis closeto playing Peeta in this year’s mega-blockbuster, but lost the role to his good friend Josh Hutcherson. “It was pretty hard. I really, really wanted it.” He says he felt like his whole life was leading up to that role and when he didn’t get it, he was crushed. “I think I just wanted it a little too much.” Looking back, he says, it was a hefty and much needed helping of humble pie. “It became a very grounding experience for me.”

But in a bizarre twist of fate, Parrish may end up in The Hunger Games after all. His name has been thrown into the mix of potential actors to play the character of Finnick Odair in the sequel Catching Fire. This time, he’s much more cautious about getting his hopes up. He has been in talks with producers but doesn’t want to think about it too much. His eyes light up, however, as he considers the possibility. “It would be fun,” he says, unable to contain himself. “If Lionsgate (the company behind the film) wants to go for it, I’ll be there. I’ll be right there.”

CASTING RUMOR: Zoe Aggeliki front-runner for Johanna Mason?

It has been reported that Zoe Aggeliki and Jena Malone are both up for the role of Johanna Mason. Now, Deadline reports that Zoe Aggeliki is in negotiations with Lionsgate and has the edge over Jena Malone.

Zoe Aggeliki has the edge over Jena Malone for a role in Lionsgate‘s The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire. Aggeliki and Malone (Sucker Punch) are up for the part of Johanna Mason, an ax-welding, deceptive and ruthless winner of a previous Hunger Games in the sequel film. However, sources say model-actress Aggeliki is the one in the most serious talks after both auditioned for director Francis Lawrence. Aggeliki has roles in the upcoming R.I.P.D. and another sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters.
